Wednesday Practice 17/07/13Josh

Posted by Josh Thu, July 18, 2013 20:32:22

Wednesday night was great as we had learnt 3 new songs which was easy as we seperated the songs into bits so the little ones can learn the song easier. We also played some different songs in a circle together which were simple but we just had to make sure we got them right for the display on sunday at Northcote Farm.smiley

these last few weeks have been busy because all of the parades weve been doing and last week we done Great Wyrley carnival.Great wyrley was a long day with a lot of crowds but i was alright because we had plenty of breaks.Last wednesday was helpful when we practiced in the drumming circle because we knew what to play and how to play it right and how to actually get in the drum circle properly.what i also found that i was getting better at was chopsticks because we practice that more often now.smiley

Tonight was fab, everyone was there and we sounded great !!! We all practiced ready for our display on Saturday. We brought our drum sticks home so we can do lots of practice holding out sticks straight 😀Hope it doesn't rain on Saturday and see you all soon.🎶

Wednesday night we focused on one tune. Richard broke it down into small pieces so it was easy to learn. Then we played it all the way through and it sounded great! At break we all had a drink and the younger ones got to play outside for a bit. Afterwards we got in a drum circle and played some tunes with the cymbal and bass players, then Richard gave us a challenge. He played at quadruple time to see if the rest of us could keep up... and I managed to! You WILL enjoy it if you join because I did and still do.

Hi, sorry a bit of a late blog from Wednesday night when it was the AGM. We all arrived about 6.30pm in uniform to get some practise in before the meeting started at 7.30pm. We took our drums outside to play which made a change. I was really pleased I had the opportunity to play in front of everybody at the meeting. We stayed after to talk to other groups that had also put displays on. It was a great night. See you all Wednesday Ben :-D

I really enjoyed drum practice tonight and found what we did in the smaller groups really helpful, we were practicing rolls for "Mrs Pitt and The Reel" I enjoy the time in smaller groups because it helps me to learn easier and hear instructions clearly. Looking forward to breaking some more songs down to learn as its easier to practice and to make sure im playing right.
